POSITION:     Food Service Assistant                      

REPORTS TO:   FS Manager          

           

 

BASIC OBJECTIVE:  To manage the physical resources within kitchen in such a way as to increase participation by maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction through excellent service, quality products, clean and sanitary premises and friendly atmosphere while staying within financial guidelines.

 

JOB SUMMARY:  A skilled person, who, under the supervision of a food service manager, performs assigned tasks in designated in designated areas of food production and cleaning.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS:  Performs food preparation for breakfast and/or lunch to produce quality products within a given time frame.  Duties may include but are not limited to :

            Prepares breakfast items including cooked cereal, meats, pancakes and French toast.

            Bakes bread and dessert items to enhance meal quality and to reduce costs.

            Assisting with vegetable and/or entrĂ©e preparation.

            Panning meats, fruits and/or vegetables

            Other duties as assigned

 

Serves students and staff breakfast and/or lunch.

 

Performs daily, weekly and monthly cleaning as assigned to maintain acceptable level of sanitation and safety.  Duties may include but are not limited to:

            Washing dishes, pot and pans after breakfast and/or lunch.

            Cleaning equipment used for food preparation after use.

            Sweeps and mops floors daily after lunch.

            Cleans appliances and storage areas as directed by Manager.

            Cleans walls, doors, windows and window frames as directed by Manager.

            Wash dining room tables daily after breakfast and lunch.

            Performs other cleaning duties as directed by Manager.

 

Help unload supplies.

Must be able to lift 50 pounds

Must be able to stand for at least eight hours on hard surface floor.

Must be able to put hands in water which contains bleach or other chemicals.

Follows procedures to insure compliance with all regulations and practices of the TCSD and school food service.

Keeps in confidence information that has been obtained in the cause of professional service, unless disclosure serves professional purposes or is required by law.

 

Other duties may be assigned.

 

 

EXPERIENCE:  Experience in large quantity food production and service desired.

 

EDUCATION:  High School graduate or GED required
