SUMMARY: Provide a problem-solving service to children and their families in the Todd County School District.
QUALIFICATION/BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology or related field.
- Valid South Dakota driver’s license.
- Experience working with children and families.
- Must maintain up to date training and certification.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Performs casework service with individual students to correct those personal, social or emotional maladjustment’s related to their educational and social progress.
- Implement provision of social services to families, e.g. assess family needs and develop an individual family plan, monitor and update ongoing family plans, assist parents in making contact with appropriate community resources and provide information on community resources to families.
- Evaluate student and parent interests, needs, and develop and implement a plan of student and parent education activities.
- Make home visits and/or telephone calls as needed to maintain communication with parents regarding attendance, school programming, services and activities.
- Performs casework service with parents as an integral part of the task of helping students, to increase the parents’ understanding, their constructive participation in resolving their child’s problems and their knowledge and use of appropriate resources available.
- Serve on site-based student/family service groups and committees as needed.
- Participate in staff development activities as assigned.
- Effectively communicate and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Plan and implement parent education activities.
- Compose clear, completed, and concise reports independently.
- Plan and implement student service programs and activities.
- Maintain knowledge and partnerships with community social services agencies and resources.
