POSITION TITLE:          Kindergarten Teacher

QUALIFICATIONS:                

• Must hold PK-3 or Early Childhood Special Education CSE) certificate.

• Reading certification or Project Construct training preferred. 

• Knowledge of English Language Learner (ELL) preferred

REPORTS TO:               Principal

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:   Teacher's work calendar and benefits as provided in the Negotiated Teacher's Agreement.

Job Goal:  To provide an early childhood educational program designed for educationally deprived four-year-old children whose educational attainment is below the level appropriate for children of their age.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Implement developmentally appropriate activities and strategies which support early literacy and math.
2. Implement developmentally appropriate activities and strategies which promote the social and emotional skills necessary for successful transition to Kindergarten.
3. Provide an environment of acceptance that supports and respects each child’s gender, culture, language and ethnicity.
4. Provide opportunity for parents to become involved in their child’s growth and development through parent education and participation.
5. Make home visits to support emergent literacy and numeracy development through the demonstration of activities to support the developmental level of each child.
6. Maintain accurate and current student records.
7. Develop annual budget for materials and supplies..
8. Supervise teacher assistants.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Collaborate with the District Office administration and site administrator to review and implement program improvements.
2. Attend meetings as requested.
3. Other duties as assigned
