POSITION:                 School Psychologist

DEPARTMENT:         Exceptional Education           

REPORTS TO:          Director of Exceptional Education     

FLSA STATUS:         Exempt

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  In accordance with school calendar and board policy.

EVALUATION:          In accordance with TCEA Master Agreement.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:        Supervises students.  

 

SUMMARY:    Evaluates and/or observes students referred for exceptional education or gifted programming, and presents reports regarding the pupils he/she has evaluated.

 

QUALIFICATION/BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

  1. Valid South Dakota certification.
  2. Completion of an approved program in school psychology or psychological evaluation.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: 

 

  1. Conducts extensive psychological examinations of referred students.
  2. Participates in referral and staff conferences required or as requested.
  3. Serves as resource person for other school personnel.
  4. Interprets evaluation results to school personnel, other concerned professionals, parents, and students.
  5. Makes recommendations on ways to assist a student referred to him/her for evaluation.
  6. Other duties may be assigned.

 

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

 

  1. Networks with outside agencies as needed
  2. May travel to meet job requirements.
  3. Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents.
  4. Practices excellent oral and written communication skills.
  5. Performs the duties with the awareness of all the district’s requirements and board policies.
  6. Participates in inservice training/workshops/programs as requested.
